What purpose does an industrial fan serve in wastewater management?

Industrial fans serve several functions in a wastewater plant. Oxygen is required to oxidise wastewater to metabolise the organic compounds. It is also required for the microorganisms to execute the nitrification process which can account for up to half of all required oxygen from an industrial fan.

Industrial fans are also required in the aeration basin in wastewater plants to assist the mixed liquor method. Chlorine systems for wastewater plants use both physical enclosures and chemical absorption devices that require fans for containment of fumes. AirEng fans supplied in alloy and FRP construction are the standards in these applications.

Finally, as with most industrial applications, an industrial fan plays a crucial rule in ventilation to minimise harmful airborne substances and humidity.
